Organized by the Society for Learning Analytics Research (SOLAR), from 21 to 25 March 2022, the 12th International Learning Analytics and Knowledge Conference (LAK22) will be held, where researchers from the Faculty of Organization and Informatics on the project "HELA- Improving HEI maturity to implement learning analytics" will present a research paper prepared within the framework of the project. This marks the first presentation of HELA project at the LAK conference!
Member of the project team Barbara Šlibar, M. Inf. will present on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, the paper called "Co-occurrence patterns of issues and guidelines related to ethics and privacy of learning analytics in higher education - literature review" that was co-authored by co-leader of the HELA project, Prof. Diana Šimić, PhD and project associates Jelena Gusić Munđar, M. Math. and Sabina Rako, M. Sc.
The paper was prepared as an introduction to the second project period, which will last until August 2023, and the topic of the paper is related to the impact of ethics and privacy on the implementation and acceptance of learning analytics in higher education institutions. It also contributes to the achievement of project objective 3: Identify pedagogical, ethical and privacy issues in use of LA and how they can be resolved. The results of the conducted research presented in the paper will be used in further project activities and contribute to achieving the project purpose, i.e. contribute to a better understanding and optimization of the teaching and learning processes supported by learning analytics (LA) through improving higher-educational institution (HEI) maturity to implement LA. Since blended learning environments are becoming ubiquitous, and taking into account that context may have decisive influence on LA adoption, we will narrow the scope of our research to the blended learning environments. We propose to develop a maturity framework for LA implementation in a blended learning environment.
