Within the framework of the research project "HELA - Improving HEI maturity to implement learning analytics", financed by the Croatian Science Foundation, in the period from December 2, 2024. until December 4, 2024. field research was conducted at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Goethe University in Frankfurt.
The Faculty of Social Sciences is one of the largest and most successful social science institutions in Germany with more than 6,000 students, while the university as a whole has almost 50,000 students. The visit was arranged and organized by Prof. Nina Begičević Ređep, Ph.D. and project associates from Goethe University Frankfurt. The visit was attended by Prof. Nina Begičević Ređep, Ph.D. and Ivan Kekez, who conducted research using semi-structured research interviews with the aim of evaluating the maturity model for implementing learning analytics in a hybrid environment.
The maturity model framework consists of 28 capabilities grouped into eight categories, as well as the maturity model instrument, a dynamic component that enables the identification of the maturity level of higher education institutions. During the research, the opinions of four experts in the field of learning analytics were collected: Prof. Hendrik Drachsler, Ph.D. director of research and development at the central innovation unit "studiumdigitale" of Goethe University in the field of technologically supported teaching and learning, Prof. Alexander Tillmann, Ph.D. executive director of Goethe University's "studiumdigitale" in the field of technologically supported teaching and learning, Dr. Michael Eichhorn, researcher in the field of learning design development and learning analytics, Department of Media Didactics, "studiumdigitale" and others. David Weiß, head of the Media Technology Department and researcher in the field of learning design development and learning analytics at "studiumdigitale".
The collected data will serve for the further development of the maturity model for the implementation of learning analytics in a hybrid environment.
